IRELAND'S EYE
It may be the last day of the Calendar year but it is a full one on the racing front with five meetings in England and Ireland. Lingfield supplies the days AW action while there are two good jump cards at Warwick and Uttoxeter (passed early morning inspection). Tramore kicks off its traditional New Years Eve and New Years Day cards with a seven race card today while there is a fine card at Punchestown which features a Grade 3 mares novice chase. The Emerald Isle will be our main betting target today and a Turtle Island 6yo can take the feature at Punchestown while a former Irish point winner can land a bumper for Alan King on his debut for the yard at Warwick.
Terence O’Briens Cool Quest proved just a fair hurdler (rated 106) but the Turtle Island mare looks to have found her vocation over the major obstacles and she can land her second chase by taking the feature at Punchestown today – the 2m Grade 3 over the minimum trip at 12-45. The six year old made a fine debut in this code when beating a decent field at Clonmel over 2m 1f 2 months ago where she came home well clear of her field after the departure of Tramp Stamp (re opposes today) at the last. The latter looked held on that occasion however and the biggest danger today may come from the former Willie Austin trained Blazing Tempo who beat the selection fair and square last time at the aforementioned Tipperary venue in a Grade 3 mares chase over two miles and four. However the Willie Mullins trained mare may be better suited by further than todays distance and O’Briens mare gets a pull of 7lbs) for a length and a half beating and her superior jumping can see her beat the Accordion six year old while the front running Back Of The Pack is likely to make a bold bid to keep her unbeaten chase tag under her penalty.
Royal De La Thinte put up one of the performances of the season earlier this year when demolishing a Bennettsbridge field by a clear fence from subsequent winners and Jim Dreapers 5yo can open his account under Rules today by landing the 3m novice chase at Punchestown at 1-15. The slick jumping French bred put up a decent performance on his chase debut at Down Royal almost two months ago when succumbing to the this weeks Leopardstown Grade 1 chase winner Bostons Angel over 2m 4f and though the dual point scorer is arguably best at around an easy three miles he can make all here under Andrew Lynch to beat Willie Mullins former point to pointer Some Target who has shown in two runs over fences that he will not be long in opening his account. The Witness Box gelding stayed on to take third to Magnanimity over the course (2m 4f) last time and the step up in distance looks sure to suit the six year old. Gordon Elliotts dual point winner Ballymak is another who will relish the switch to fences but the 7yo may need this run after an absence of some 14 months.
The former Pat Doyle trained Tales To Tell was well fancied to make a winning points debut earlier this year and the son of Oscar duly obliged despite a less than fluent round of jumping at Lismore. Though the five year old was well turned over subsequently in a winners race he should be suited by the demands of a bumper and he can make a winning Park debut for the Alan King yard by taking the closing bumper (2m) at Warwick today at 3-50. He can land this contest at decent odds under ;Choc’ Thornton where the only subsequent winner Cresswell Crusader rates the main danger. Anthony Honeyballs six year old stepped up nicely on his debut run to register a wide margin success at Chepstow on testing ground earlier this year and though he has to give weight away here he once again has the 5lbs claims of Rachel Green.
1-05 TRAMORE
Willie Mullins is no stranger to success at the seaside venue of Tramore and he can land this contest with the four year old WEE GIANT under 3lb claimer Emmet Mullins – a decent 73 rated flat racer who made a decent hurdling debut when scoring at Downpatrick from the subsequent hurdle winner Karkari.

Well done on Wednesday

On a roll. The lay was sound. A 157 rated hurdler should be up to beating a 78 rated flat racer even one of John Oxx's. Problem was he was beat before he started due to antics as the late money for the favourite indicated. A valuable lesson maybe with the jumps almost upon us.

Only been following 112 days, Nice recovery, 39% = days you have made a profit, lowest point -231 pts down, currently only -62 pts, not bad over 111 days of bets. Less than 0.5 pts loss a day. This loss could almost definitely be covered by getting better odds.
well done with Our nana rose at 10/1 sp today, unfortunately i`ve lost all my money on Daqman's tips, and need a break from the "fun" of backing horses.

It's almost blaise, lay a favourite nap the winner, but 12/1 SP with the bookies is rubbing salt in the wound. Keep it up.

Unfortunately I Eyes comments re today's ladies flat race at Tramore was way off the mark. A strict read of the form when Sutherland Star gave weight and a beating to On Borrowed Wings, and OBW with Diamond's Return who subsequently ran in the hot midsummer bumper won by Loosen The Load (also ridden by Nina) would show Sutherland Star would have been in the shake up. Sutherland Star was the only horse in the race that truly gets 2 miles, just watch the races on ATR archive, Montero does not stay 2 miles just because he can win chases over longer does not mean he can over 2 miles on the flat. And so it proved SS backed in from 7/2 and strolled home.

Have you got Mondays figures right? The Lay alone would have lost 17.5pts.

Following up Bob Denby's comment. When you lay horses is there a maximum price? Or is it at any price because the horse is expected to lose so price is irrelevant?

What time will the tips be posted

You didn't get much credit for your 25/1 nap but it was flagged up on Tipsterform and is a contender for nap of the year. 5 points at 25/1. Well done mate!

We did flag that one and it paid 24.63 in the other place. A great bet.

Ireland's Eye was the only tipster tracked by Tipsterform to give a winner with his nap today. Yesterday Daqman was the only one to give a winning nap.
Posted by: TF | June 09, 2010 at 23:00
Daqman is in excellent form hitting his 3rd winning nap in a row yesterday.
Any chance of publishing his strike rate on naps and his ROI?

FRI 5 NOV 2010 Southwell 1:00 SUDDENLY SUSAN, MAKEYNN Both Lays.
SUDDENLY SUSAN First time in handicap, Was dropped from class 5 to 6 most recent run but still could not win, Top Care the horse that beat her 3L that is trained by M Johnston who runs ITZAKINDAMAGIC the only D winner in the line up, M Johnston would have done his home work using Top Care as a yard stick. MAKEYNN on breeding would be suited by further and I feel will not be suited by underfoot conditions. FRED WILLETTS is extremely over priced on the exchanges and the shops, won a selling class race over 6f by 8L on gd ground, went on to be beaten the narrowest of margins in a class 2 handicap over 7f on gs, Some 7L behind him was Orientalist winner of 4 races 3 of which were class 4 handicaps, Rerouted Finished just in front of FW (SH) this is a group 3 winner yes group 3 winner over 1M, I think I can explain why FW is such a big price, To date he as only had 1 run on the aw, was beaten 12L, I think you can forgive him for that run, He was drawn very wide and more importantly that run was over 5f which may have been on the sharp side. My mate Jake should run a big race his form gives him a excellent chance
