IRELAND'S EYE
Its back to the all weather once again today where there are 3 BETDAQ sponsored races on the Wolverhampton card. Unfortunately Kempton and Ludlow had to give best to the elements to leave us with no National Hunt racing but prospects for the remainder of the week look encouraging nevertheless. Our two main selections today will be in the BEDAQ handicaps where two previous course winners look good bets at the odds to deliver for the Evans and Balding yards.
Presenting Massey (6-5/1) ensured we registered a clear profit yesterday by landing the novice chase at Limerick and we kept our fine lay record going when opposing the former Irish point winner Ballycracken (3rd at 15/8) in a novice hurdle at Plumpton. Also savers The Big Boyo (4/1), Vintage Oak (7/2-10/3) and Smack That (5/2) filled the frame in their respective races at Limerick.
Tuscan King boasts a good record at Wolverhampton and the Evans trained 3yo can register his third course victory today in the 1m 1 1/2f hc at 3-50 off a mark of 65. Though his two wins here were registered in claimers over nine furlongs – the most recent one for current yard when blinkers were left off – he indicated that he could be competitive off this mark when staying on well late to take a close third in a Kempton mile handicap eight days ago where he did not have the run of the race when well supported in the market. Back to the scene of his two career wins he should just have the edge on the unexposed Ray Beckett trained Riviera Chic whose three runs to date have seen the USA bred filly finish in the frame here. Her most recent effort in first time blinkers saw her lose out by a head over half a furlong less in a maiden less than a fortnight gives the Jim Crowley ridden 3yo decent prospects in her first handicap nevertheless but she is not as straight forward as the selction and she may have to play a supporting role here.
BETDAQ sponsor the closing 12f hc (fillies) at Wolverhampton at 5-50 and though it is a 5 runner affair it does look quite open on paper. However the Andrew Balding trained Starburst gets our nod to land his second course and distance victory in the hands of Martin Dwyer in her third handicap start.
Though it took the Fantastic Light filly 8 tries to open her account in a maiden over CD here six weeks ago he did run quite well when taking third in a similar contest at Kempton when a tardy start (blindfolds on when stalls opened) did not aid her cause and she gets the vote here to beat the Tom Dascombe trained Look Officer. The former David Wachman trained 4yo arguably is more exposed than the selection but the Richard Smith ridden filly seems to have has improved for the transfer to this yard and opened her account by landing an 11f Southwell handicap on her third start on the all weather and she was not disgraced in taking third here over course and distance here two weeks ago.
2-05 WOLVERHAMPTON – 6f hc
Milton Bradleys OUTER HEBRIDES boasts a decent strike rate at Wolverhampton over the years and though the 9yo has not run here in almost a year a return to this track can see the four time distance winner return to winning ways on the back of some consistent efforts.

We are now recording the daily profit and loss of Ireland's Eye to help readers gauge the current form of the service. We will provide the profit / loss on the previous day to a £1 level stake on each selection (eg: a 5 point bet = a £5 stake). In the interests of consistency the profit / loss will be recorded at SP prices, however BETDAQ users can reasonably expect to beat SP in the majority of races.
Wednesday's Return was: LOSS 14.68 points
