Mike De Kock and Saeed Bin Suroor may as well just flip a coin for the deep purses of Meydan, as they continue to pocket the reds before the big black-ball games that are to come in this magnificent stadium. Taking on Presvis, who has his first race on tapeta and has just such a World Cup target, looks candy waiting for these whiz-kids: £55,000 grand for the winner in a three-horse race! The one I’ve been waiting for is Zirconeum (5.45): I’m taking her to beat the year-younger filly Aspectoflove as De Kock and Godolphin do battle again. Zirconeum’s running style is ideal for this track; seemingly, you need to get to the leaders a furlong and a half or so out; long raking runs have not been winning there. At Bangor, Noun De La Thinte (2.25) is 10lb ahead of the handicapper and getting more than a stone from two of his three adversaries. 1.45 Lingfield (Bet Premier League Football – Betdaq Maiden): Getting that all-important early break and settling just off the pace has put a premium on jockeyship on the turn at this track. But you can’t come without the horse: four in this field were slowly away last time out - Puitin, Shame The Devil, Sinchiroka and Southern Breeze - and another, Mrs Onc, is a rear-running hurdler, seemingly without any effective gear change. I would like to discount Frameit, too; but, though he’s unraced, his stable has managed 11 places (five of them wins) from the last 16 starters (69%). Monaco Dream’s yard has won with three out of four in the last fortnight but has so far lacked ‘finish’, ominously tried at three different distances under three different jockeys from 1m to 1m 4f. Lastroseofsummer has done the same step up without success, yet this sorry bunch is giving – ok, it’s weight for age – more than a stone to a Johnston runner, Abergavenny. Abergavenny was well supported first time up, but Joe Fanning didn’t jump out and secure the best of sits; Greg Fairley should get that all-important break now and, if – as seems likely – there isn’t much pace on, you can expect him to kick on into the straight. But he may need to look over his shoulder for Frameit, a half–brother to Al Qasi, with offers of 10.5 on Betdaq as I write. 2.20 Lingfield (Bet Six Nations Rugby – Betdaq Handicap): Another one on the turn and, in a fair-size field, I’m looking for a decent pace. Barastar from the one stall has front-run before but didn’t last very long and those maiden efforts over 6f and 7f to get a mark may be misleading as to his running style, now stepped up in trip for his handicap debut. Magic Spirit, a stable companion of Frameit’s, led last time but only at a modest pace. No, I think the best back-and-lay, though he’s favourite as I write, is Bubbly Braveheart: he’s almost always taken a keen hold (the only time recently he was restrained, he sulked and was hampered) and the 4.5 I took this morning will look a big price if he’s still there. There’s not much between ’Braveheart’, Glen Lass and Magic Spirit on form and I don’t like it when they’re ‘all of a heap’; it might be anyone’s turn. 3.30 Lingfield (Betdaq On 0870 178 1221 Claiming Stakes): A tricky one from where I’m sitting this morning, since top-rated Transfixed was third yesterday and is engaged here tomorrow; might not run. Anjomarba goes for a hat-trick of claimers but the one I like is for the in-form Stan Moore again: Kirstys Boy should get the run of the race from stall one, and is dropped down from class-4 for a repeat CD claimer win, after beating Anjomarba here in December. 5.35 Wolverhampton (Bet Multiples – Betdaq Handicap): Whippers Love seemed to prefer genuinely good ground on turf and his AW form is at Kempton, but he’s the only class-4 winner left in the race. Thundering Home is going for the hat-trick but the grey’s success was on a slow surface at Southwell and then in slow time on today’s course, a furlong shorter. Brooklands Bay’s CD second was even slower. You takes your choice. 6.35 Wolverhampton (Bet Six Nations Rugby – Betdaq Handicap): Toby Atkinson has been using his claim well and he puts Erinjay, his only ride of the day, in pole position, getting weight from the other younger horses. It’s a furlong further than Sunday’s win but he gets no penalty, since it was a boys’ race; Toby has now won on him claiming 7lb and 5lb, as his career progresses. Contrast that with poor Chosen Forever, who has been hiked 12lb for a CD win; he was put in another race quickly when a 6lb penalty applied before the ratings revision took hold but was run out of it in a hard race, also over CD. Kames Park is a bit of a ‘character’; he is often taken wide and threatens late on so strongly that he usually trades down close to evens. At 13.0 this morning, he was a must back-and-lay. Supercast had Bolodenka behind here at the end of the year, and African Cheetah has two ways of running. So I’ll stick with Erinjay. 7.35 Wolverhampton (Bet NFL Superbowl – Betdaq Handicap): I laid Divine Force when he was losing and backed him as a reformed character (that’s partly true; I laid him once when he won): is now the time to turn against him again? He’s up in grade and up in the ratings; that usually stops them. It’s the same story for Spinning Bailiwick but Weet A Surprise is weighted to turn around CD placings at the revised weights, and a fast pace – possibly set by Albertine Rose or Sir Nod – may help him do that. But a pace race is not guaranteed and there’s not much between the mare and Onceuponatime on earlier form last month. Onceuponatime is your back-and-lay; he’s 8.0 as I write, and always attracts money, not only in running where your hungry mouse is waiting but in the bookies’ markets; he’s been favourite three races on the trot. So I’m ducking Divine Force for that bet instead, though it won’t look so good on the account, charged at one point win and place Onceuponatime.

We are now recording the daily profit and loss of DAQMAN to help readers gauge the current form of the service. We will provide the profit / loss on the previous day to a £1 level stake on each selection (eg: a 5 point bet = a £5 stake). In the interests of consistency the profit / loss will be recorded at SP prices, however BETDAQ users can reasonably expect to beat SP in the majority of races. | |
