IRELAND'S EYE
BETDAQ are once again the main sponsor on the sand at Southwell today and a Richard Guest trained six year old is taken to land one of these contests while at the other meeting today at Lingfield our vote goes to a long priced runner in a competitive handicap.
Though saver Diapason (5/6-4/5) ensured it was not a winnerless day for us yesterday we did record a couple of seconds with nap Miami Gator (5-9/2) proving no match for the ex Irish The Glamour Cat at Wolverhampton while Winning Show (10-8/1) was staying on nicely ‘at the death’ when beaten half a length at Kempton with saver Starburst (5-4/1) finished third in the same contest.
The BET MASTERS SNOOKER BETDAQ hc over a mile and a half today at Southwell at 1-20 offers the six year old Russian Invader a decent opportunity to record his third career win and first for over two years. Though he looks well exposed his last time out effort over course and distance five days ago when just failing to catch Dan Buoy (ran fairly well in interim) should see him go close here under his 5lb claimer Toby Atkinson. Though Kempton last time out winner Tyrana looks to have prospects off top weight here the main danger looks to be the course specialist Jackie Kiely who has won eight times at this venue and six times over CD though the 9yo has not visited the winners rostrum for more than two years.
Jim Boyles The Love Guru is 2 from 4 at Southwell and the 3yo can make it three course and distance successes by landing the 6f hc at 2-20 under 5lb claimer Matthew Davies under an eight pound penalty. Though that rise in weight looks somewhat harsh for his most recent success over Knightfire a week ago the prominent running gelding should make another bold bid here as the drop back to this trip has proved ideal for the son of Ishiguru. His main danger could come from another horse boasting the same recent form figures Tealing who also is two from two at this venue but the Richard Guest trained gelding is dropping back in distance having secured his two career wins here over seven furlongs.
With several of the runners in the 2-35 at Lingfield today looking exposed this contest can go to one of the less tried contenders in the Nick Littmoden trained Holkham. It must be said that the Beat Hollow gelding failed to show much in his first couple of runs on the grass but he did nevertheless indicate a little ability on final start and first on all weather when keeping on to take fifth in a 6f maiden at big odds. However this is not a strong looking contest and he can spring a surprise at decent odds here at the expense of another relatively unexposed runner in the Mark Johnston trained Ostentation who has yet to reach the frame and he looks sure to do better than last time in his first handicap at Lingfield over 7f.
3-20 SOUTHWELL – 1m maiden
Though Mark Prescotts debutant could pose a big threat here the vote goes to the experienced William Haggas trained MING MASTER who is take to step up on his promising fourth placings at Kempton and Wolverhampton under Joe Fanning.
3-35 LINGFIELD – 7f hc
The twice raced CAPRICORNUS scored well over the trip at Wolverhampton over a fortnight ago and the Mark Johnston just gets the vote to beat bottom weight Gold Party who has the assistance of Jamie Spencer.

We are now recording the daily profit and loss of Ireland's Eye to help readers gauge the current form of the service. We will provide the profit / loss on the previous day to a £1 level stake on each selection (eg: a 5 point bet = a £5 stake). In the interests of consistency the profit / loss will be recorded at SP prices, however BETDAQ users can reasonably expect to beat SP in the majority of races.
Monday's Return was: LOSS 13.4 points
