IRELAND'S EYE
Only our saver Third Level Tom at 4/1 ensured some return yesterday from four races but we hope to get the train back on track this evening with a double header of Irish meetings at Wexford and Bellewstown.
At Bellewstown we will be siding with a Ruby Walsh ridden mare in a maiden hurdle ‘against the boys’ while at Wexford we will be taking on the ‘jolly’ in a division of the novice chase and instead row in with a Dessie Hughes trained 7yo.
Ruby Walsh returned with a winner at Bellewstown yesterday and the Irish champion rider can ‘repeat the dose’ at the same venue tonight where he looks to have fine prospects of landing a 2m 1f maiden hurdle at 6-45 with the John Kenny trained Long Walk Home. A daughter of Presenting the 6yo she stepped up markedly on her second start over hurdles when keeping on to finish within 4 lengths of Diaconescu (looks to have decent prospects of landing a hc hurdle at 7-50 at Wexford tonight) in an average Downpatrick maiden hurdle over an extended 2m 1f on firm last time. She should be capable of building on that and in a winnable contest where the leaders in the market do not look ‘cast iron’ she can account for the decent three time flat winner Adare Manor from the Niall Madden yard in receipt of 13lbs.
Sanglote looks likely to start favourite in the second division of the 3m 1f novice chase at Wexford this evening (7-30) and though the former bumper/hurdle winner has shown progression in finishing runner up to Sonnium over 2 furlongs less at Tipperary on just his second start over fences the Eoin Griffin trained 6yo does tend to consistent rather than a win machine.
Dessie Hughes 7yo The Rall is rated around the same horse as Sanglote over hurdles and though he has only boasts a couple of career wins over hurdles up to 3 miles he did shape with a fair degree of promise on his chase debut to finish a reasonable fourth to Golden Kite over this trip at Kilbeggan on firm ground and the Roger Loughran ridden gelding should build on that and should appreciate the easier ground. A possible danger to the selection could be the David Kiely trained mare Finisk Rose who has not been disgraced in four starts over fences to date and is another who will be suited by the anticipated ease in the ground.
Jessica Harrington is doubly represented in the 8-20 at Bellewstown in a 2m 1f handicap hurdle with the mare Pebble Reach towards the foot of the handicap and Farinelli towards the summit of the weights. Though the first named holds definite prospects on her decent third in a Down Royal handicap hurdle last time and will appreciate the ease in the ground (only success came on heavy) it could pay dividends to side with her stable mate Farinelli who remains relatively unexposed over hurdles (just 5 runs) and the 6yo has shown himself to be in good stead recently over fences when easily accounting for a Tipperary field in a novice chase over this trip on firm. Although he has shown his best form on good and better ground he has been placed on the flat on soft in the past and the Robert Power ridden gelding gets the vote to open his hurdle account here at the expense of the useful Mervyn Torrens mare Dancera who is making her first start over jumps for over 7 months but she rates a danger on her best hurdle form with a 5lb claimer on board.
Colm Murphy looks to have decent prospects of landing the closing 2m 2f mares maiden hurdle at Wexford at 9-00 with the lightly raced Lady Tess. This 5yo has only had three runs over hurdles to date but she did run well in defeat at this venue over three weeks ago when only just touched off by Hot Oscar in admittedly an average contest over 2m 4f where she had Itsuptoyou back in third and that one ran well when going close in a Sligo maiden hurdle in the interim. Hopefully the drop back in trip should not prove a handicap and now pitted exclusively against her own sex the Sean Flanagan ridden mare can get the better of a couple of bigger priced runners in Hopeful Venture from the Lesley Young yard who was noted staying on nicely late last time at Tramore over 2 miles whilst another to enter calculations is the Francis Flood trained Good Parade who did finish a reasonable sixth to Fier Destrier in a decent Down Royal maiden last time but a reproduction of her fine fifth behind Dual Gales at Tipperary on penultimate start would give her decent prospects.

We are now recording the daily profit and loss of Ireland's Eye to help readers gauge the current form of the service. We will provide the profit / loss on the previous day to a £1 level stake on each selection (eg: a 5 point bet = a £5 stake). In the interests of consistency the profit / loss will be recorded at SP prices, however BETDAQ users can reasonably expect to beat SP in the majority of races.
