Thursday 16 July DAQMAN  SUPER RACING: There’s a big weekend ahead, starting tomorrow with the Newbury Super Sprint meeting. Don’t miss Daqman’s verdicts. LOOK OUT on Sunday when he begins a new series of analysis which destroys some long-held punter fallacies. LONG-ODDS TRADES: Today, he spots some value Betdaq trades at the soft-ground night meeting at Doncaster: 15.5 and 14.5, and two at 10.0 on line this morning.   Frankie Dettori is doing a rare double shift today. He’s been taking it easy this season, with fewer than half the rides of some of the top eight in the jockeys’ table, a massive 250 mounts behind the champion, Ryan Moore. At Leicester, he has a strike rate of 30%. It’s only half that at Doncaster but two of his rides there tonight are for Jeremy Noseda, for whom he’s 33% on Town Moor in the last three years. I favour the first one. Summerinthecity (7.05) is the name and revenge is the game: the Indian Ridge colt was beaten a length last time out by Haltela when Ryan Moore dropped the reins. I’m sure you wouldn’t have detected a flicker of anguish on the champion’s stony countenance that day but, if Frankie turns over Haltela on 7lb better terms tonight, he’ll be beaming like a pasta-sauce advert. It’s been quiet without the Dettori sauce and flying dismounts but the Noseda camp is confident that Frankie will be leaping to Group success on Forgotten Voice (8.10), highly regarded and with the options of the Sussex Stakes, the International and the Celebration Mile among future entries. But it’s a small field tonight on soft ground and the Hunt Cup winner faces Group performers in Perks and in Jamie Spencer’s mount, Moyenne Corniche; both will be suited by the conditions. In a similar small field and tactical race on today’s course, Moyenne Corniche was second to the recent Windsor Forest winner, Spacious, giving the mare 8lb and being beaten only a nose last backend. Michael Bell’s runner is a ‘nearly horse’ but, given the soft ground, the son of Selkirk was the ‘wrong price’, seen trading on Betdaq at 14.5 this morning. Also likely to return to form is Hurlingham (8.40), taking on last-time winner Shaloo Diamond again, over a shorter trip, back on a surface he loves and better off at the weights: 15.5 on the Daq. Layers were in trouble early in the day making offers for the two-year-old maiden, with Barry Hills’ Selkirk filly, Touch Tone (7.35) all the rage in the conditions, and offered at only 3-2 as I write. They will be hoping that Spencer comes to the rescue again, with the grey filly Crystal Gale, who has experience on her side, or Clarietta, from the yard which won this last year and is going well with its juveniles right now. Spencer and Michael Hills clash again in the getting-out stakes (9.10): Desert Fever (Hills) makes his handicap debut off a low mark while Eddie Boy (Spencer), whose sire won all his races with cut in the ground, should be more at home in these conditions: both 10.0 on the Daq this morning. Darryl Holland seems to have been having a good season but is only nine in front of Dettori despite some 85 rides more. He keeps the faith with Heaven (8.55 Bath), twice a loser for him this term but returning to the race which the partnership won last year off a 3lb higher mark. The afternoon racing is not much cop: course-and-distance winner at Cartmel, Lake Wakatipu (2.00) unseated her rider when four lengths up in a better grade at Aintree last time; should get her confidence back here.
